My research aims to characterize and understand the factors that promote or generate the diversification of living beings, in a phylogenetic framework and using spiders as a model of study. Most of my research takes advantage of the experimental conditions provided by isolated systems, e.g. oceanic islands and caves, which contribute to simplify the intrinsic complexity of Macroevolutionary studies. My approach to phylogenetic reconstruction is based on the combined analysis of morphological data and molecular markers. In this regard, one of the most recent developments of my research is the use of cDNA derived ESTs to generate new molecular markers
