Since 1976, an intellectual programme related to GEO
CRÍTICA REVIEW , has been being developed in the
University of Barcelona . This programme
has spread to the field of humanistic geography and social science, with
a particular emphasis on urban geography, historical and cultural geography,
and economic geography, as well as, on theory, historical and sociological
science.
GEO CRÍTICA has published a hundred issues already and its author catalogue and key words index can be looked up from this page. At the same time, and as a complement of that intellectual project, a variety of EDITORIAL COLLECTIONS, has been released, and many debates through the POSTGRADE GEO CRITICA SEMINAR have been organized.
In GEO CRÍTICA we are mainly interested in the TEACHING renewal of geography and social science in its different levels (primary teaching, secondari and university). We wish to put our knowledge at the disposal of other groups and to exchange with them experiences of problems about geographical didactics and social sciences in all the stages of teaching, as well as in the field works and urban geography itineraries. Our RESEARCHING task as been carried out by means of some different researching programmes. According to this pattern, about 40 researchers, a part of whom belongs to iberoamerican countries, have fulfilled their Doctoral Thesis . These programmes have given rise to a number of publications, which we would like to inform about from here, taking especially into account, the researchers from the iberoamerican field. Within this framework the European/Iberoamerican Cities Programme, which coordinates the students and researchers exchange between university centres in Europe, is also integrated.
In GEO CRÍTICA we also interested in keeping an open debate
with specialists from all over the world. That is the reason why, it will
be freely offered, through this web page, not only GEO CRÍTICA
texts, but also other already published works which, from now on, will
have a much wider divulging channel in our new electronic review SCRIPTA
VETERA.
In SCRIPTA NOVA,
a new electronic review of Geography and Social Science the unknow articles
will be published.
Likewise, bibliographical outlines will appear in BIBLIO
3W ; whereas the information on Internet and computer resources
available in the field of Geography and Social Science, will shape the
new electronic review AR@CNE
.
GEO CRÍTICA is associated to other researching groups thanks to the different personal and institutional nets and has organized the INTERNATIONAL GEO CRÍTICA NETWORK PROJECT., in which a set of researchers belonging to different institutions and nets are integrated . We believe it necessary and wish to enhance the contact and interrelation between these researchers and the knowledge of their researching and teaching task, that is why we are including here their curriculum vitae, so as to make it possible to know their subjects of interest and publications.
The GEO CRÍTICA web page had 27.843 visits, from the 15th September 1996 to the 1st June 1999. According to entry statistics, counted up between january-june 2000, our review receives, daily, a hundred visits through the main page.
