This course is a journey through the Barcelona of the 16th to 18th centuries through the eyes of the women who lived there. Through a series of biographies, we will review the lives of these women: from their birth to their old age and death, passing through their childhood and their configuration as adult women. The aim is to study their experiences in the world, in families, in married life, in the street. We therefore exclude cloistered life.

On this journey, we will focus on women with names and surnames, born in Barcelona or linked in some way to the city; women who left written testimonies of their vicissitudes, their emotions and desires or their problems, fears and conflicts, throughout their lives, at different ages. These testimonies have come to us directly, from their own hand, or indirectly, through other documentation preserved today in the archives.

The course, in short, represents a different way of approaching the city and of giving a voice to the women who were leading figures.
