Applications

Applications for pre- and post-graduate students are always welcome. However, we would like to inform potential applicants about some points:

  • Currently we do not have any financial source to support the stay of foreign students in our laboratory. Therefore, applicants should arrange this point. There are some possible grants from both Spanish and Catalan governments, in addition to those offered by their respective governments:

Spanish Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad

Spanish Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores

Agència Catalana d'ajuts Universitaris

We are open to help foreign students in their applications. The research project will be proposed in the frame of our current research.

  • In most cases, prior to the application for a pre-doctoral grant, foreign University degrees will need the Spanish Ministerio de Educacion y Ciencia approval.

  • Official languages in Catalonia are both Spanish and Catalan. Applicants must know, however, that most of the post-graduate courses (MSc and PhD programs) are given in Catalan. People who speak Spanish will not have troubles to understand Catalan in few weeks. People who does not speak Spanish should take this point into account. The University of Barcelona offers free Catalan and Spanish courses to foreign students:

Cursos de Español para extranjeros

Catalan courses

  • Barcelona is a nice, sunny city which foreign people enjoy a lot. Moreover, scientific facilities and culture are growing up very fast, making research here an exciting experience. However, foreign applicants should know that the standard of living is high; Barcelona is one of the most expensive cities in Spain.
